Do you know the hands
that picked your coffee?

We didn't either. So we went looking. The Cultural Explorer subscription funds what we find.

£13.95 a month. One bag of coffee. The whole story of where it came from and what your subscription makes possible. Delivery included.

What arrives

A 250g bag of coffee, every month. Each month we choose one coffee from our launch range for all subscribers: Ethiopian Blossom, Mayan Tapestry, or Rwandan Reserve. One coffee, one story, one shared experience across the whole community.

We're honest about where we are. These coffees are sourced through our roasting partners, not directly from producers we know by name. They are exceptional. They are real. And they are the bridge to what comes next.

We are working to source directly from the Kaffa Forest Coffee Farmers Cooperative Union in Ethiopia. When that coffee arrives, it will carry the full story: the hands, the names, the place. Your subscription is what gets us there.

What your subscription makes possible

Five things. Nothing hidden behind a higher tier. Every subscriber gets everything.

1. You choose where we go next

Subscribers vote on which origin community Alice and Nick visit next. Not a poll for engagement. A real decision with real consequences. The vote determines which relationships we build, which stories enter the Living Library, which producers we sit with. One subscriber, one vote. Results binding.

Activates when the next expedition is planned. We'll tell you when voting opens.

2. You choose where the money goes

20% of net subscription revenue is ring-fenced for producer community projects. Subscribers decide which project receives the funds. Clean water access, processing facilities, educational resources. Options presented with honest context: what the project is, who benefits, what it costs. No project proceeds without producer community consent.

The 20% investment activates when the business reaches financial sustainability (three consecutive months above our reserve floor). We will not claim this is live before money has actually flowed. When it activates, you will know because we will show you the numbers.

3. The Impact Wall

A living record of what subscriber contributions have made possible. Documentary photographs. Progress updates. Producer community feedback. Not a marketing page. Evidence. Updated as projects progress and complete. Historical record maintained.

Populates with real data once the community investment is active.

4. Your name on what gets built

When a community project completes, the subscribers who funded it have their names on it. Physically. On the wall of the school, the water point, the processing facility. Photographic documentation sent to every subscriber involved.

How naming works varies by community. We don't assume a plaque is appropriate everywhere. Cultural sensitivity review happens before any naming commitment, with producer community approval of the format.

Activates when the first community project completes.

5. 20% community investment

This is the structural commitment. 20% of what you pay, after costs, goes back to the communities who grow the coffee. Not a rounding-up charity mechanic. Not a vague promise. A fixed percentage, tracked quarterly, reported transparently.

Before the trigger: the commitment exists in our financial model as a structural target. After the trigger: money flows monthly into a ring-fenced account. You vote on allocation. The Impact Wall tracks where it went. Quarterly transparency reports to all subscribers.

Live right now

  • Coffee delivery at £13.95/month, P&P included
  • The commitment to all five features above, stated honestly
  • Full access to every story, every expedition dispatch, every piece of content we publish

Activates at sustainability

  • 20% community investment begins flowing
  • Voting on community projects opens
  • Impact Wall populates with real outcomes
  • Subscriber names go on completed projects

We will not blur this line. What is live is live. What is coming is coming. You will always know which is which.

Why not just buy a bag?

You can. Single bags are £11.95 plus delivery. No subscription needed.

But a single bag is a transaction. The subscription is what funds the expeditions, the community investment, the return trips that turn a visit into a relationship. The coffee is the same. What it makes possible is not.

What this is not

Not a content paywall. Solomon's work, the Living Library, expedition stories, producer profiles. All freely accessible. The subscription funds the work. We don't gate knowledge behind a payment.

Not a tiered system. There is no basic and premium. Every subscriber gets everything. One price. One tier. No upsell.

Not a loyalty programme. No points. No rewards ladder. No gamification. You fund expeditions and community projects. That is the value exchange.

The economics, because you should know

Subscription price£13.95/month
Delivery (Royal Mail, included)£3.50
Coffee + roasting + packaging£6.60
Net margin per bag£3.85

That £3.85 is what runs the business, funds the expeditions, and (once the trigger is met) sends 20% back to producer communities. When we say your subscription makes the work possible, this is what we mean.

Frequently asked questions

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. No contract. No cancellation fee. No questions.

Can I skip a month?

Yes. Pause from your account dashboard. Your subscription benefits continue while paused.

Can I choose which coffee I receive?

Each month we choose one coffee for all subscribers. Everyone receives the same bag, paired with its story. If you want a specific coffee from the range alongside your subscription, you can always buy a single bag. As the range grows with direct sourcing, how this works may evolve.

When does the 20% community investment start?

When we hit three consecutive months with our funded cash position above the reserve floor. We will announce it publicly, with numbers. Not before.

Is the content really free?

Yes. Expedition stories, producer profiles, Solomon's research, the Living Library. All open. The subscription funds the people and trips that create the content. It does not buy access to it.

Do you ship outside the UK?

Not yet. UK delivery only at launch. International shipping is on the roadmap.

£13.95 a month. One bag. The whole story. Delivery included.

Your subscription funds the next expedition. It funds the return trip. It funds the moment we can look a producer in the eye and say: the people who drink your coffee chose to send this back to your community.

That is what this is for.
